💝Forget perfect cookies… this is perfect❣️

💖Valentine’s Day isn’t about perfect cookies…

it’s about little hands pressing heart cutouts into soft butter dough💕

We cut, we pressed, we iced… and we added way too many nonpareils (if that’s even possible 😉)

My greatest hope?

That one day they’ll remember baking with us… and recreate this love in their own kitchens💓

But the real recipe?

Love. Giggles. A happy mess💗

My kids stable butter cookie recipe below ⬇️😂

En-joy these special moments — this is the real Valentine magic. 💗

Best Butter Cut Out Cookies for Kids

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup sugar

2 egg yolks

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Âź teaspoon salt

2 ½ cups unbleached all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 300°F.

In large bowl of electric mixer, beat butter and sugar on medium high speed, 2 to 3 minutes or until light and fluffy.

Add egg yolks and vanilla and beat until combined. Add flour and mix on low speed until well blended.

On a lightly floured board or parchment paper, roll dough to Ÿ to 1/2-inch thick. With floured cookie cutters, cut dough into shapes. Pat scraps into a ball and repeat.

Transfer cookies to parchment lined cookie sheet.

Chill for 10 minutes.

Bake cookies about 12 to 15 minutes or until slightly golden on bottom.

Let cool on cooling racks completely.

Decorate with icings and sprinkles.

Depending on the size of the cookies, dough will make about 10 to 12 medium cookies.

PRO TIPS-

Dough should not be sticky.  If sticky, add 2 tablespoons more flour to prevent sticky dough.

Dough can be refrigerated for 1 day. Let come to room temperature before  rolling,

Baked cookies freeze beautifully up to 1 month.
